LG Released the First Solar Powered E-Book
LG Display, a vendor of thin film transistor innovator for liquid crystal display technology, have released an e-book equipped with a solar cell. Thin film solar cell in LG e-book has length and width of 10 cm.
Thin film of LG Display e-book was developed to fit into the 6 inch e-book display size. This e-book solar cell have 0.7 mm thick (less than a credit card) and weighs just 20 grams. Thin film solar cell that exist in e-book is made from electrodes inserted into the plastic or glass substrate. To adopt a solar cell that makes the crystallization of silicon layer, thin film solar cell is made very light and easy to include in the e-book or mobile phone. Thin film solar cell technology will stabilize the device when there are changes in the external environment surrounding temperature. Same as TFT-LCD technology, but the solar cell layer is not so much known except by LG Display.
Efficiency of this product ranges from 9.6 percent, capture energy from the sun for four to five hours, will provide a full day’s worth of reading time. This is useful for outdoor e-book and not have to worry about having to charge the battery.
